This 10 foot by 10 foot mural in Lansing Eastern High School represents Tie's recent experiences very well. In 1997, 16 year old Tie was given 4 gallons of 4 colors and painted his future.
At the top is "The Evolution of the Disappearance of Man". Where Adam is running from the serpent, slows down, then sits, then turns into a computer with a serpent for a cord.
Tie was at constant war with his conscience and his religion. To separate those two, he decapitated himself in all of his self images. In this mural, the guillotine that cut off his head has blood smear that is to represent John the Baptist. He turned his friend into an angel and she was to take him back to heaven for his bravery for painting the mural that would enlighten the world of the inevitable dire end of humanity due to technology advances.
She was going to be unsuccessful because a computer monitor on a cross was one moment away from stabbing her. All of this goes on as Bill Gates washes the blood from his hands in hell.
Tie spent the last 11 years of his life sitting at a computer screen fixing websites and gained 50 pounds. He realized that he was turning into a computer as he had predicted. The Irony is plentiful. October 7th, 2018 was his last day morphing into a computer. He retired from company and then unretired from his first profession. An artist.
*Ties old Art Teacher told him that he hid the controversial work with a set of lockers and that the mural still stands to this day.

At age sixteen, Tie again separated his head from his hart to reveal his soul. As time progressed he realized that the white haired, blue eyed baby that he once was, was now not even blond now but had brown hair. And his eyes were turning slightly green.
He interpreted that his childhood purity was going away as his hair darkened. And that the blue ignorance in his eyes were being filled with green life as his existence continues it's cycle. He envisioned that his soul had the white haired purity from his youth, yet experience of life through his eyes. However, God is shining down from above, creating a morbid shadow under his eyes; accentuating his mortal skull.
-Oil on canvas '97
Tie's outlook on life is much more bleak than those bright and shiny days of over 20 years ago. Entropy will do that.
However the freedom to paint and create gives him purpose and joy.
